Rebekah L. Kohmescher

As CEO, Rebekah ‘Beka’ Kohmescher leads Altair’s executive team and has responsibility for the overall management of the firm. Beka places a strong emphasis on creating a firm culture where all employees are encouraged to problem solve and take a forward-looking approach to serving clients. Her belief that the best client experience comes from a service team that is empowered to be proactive and creative in their work both attracts top talent to Altair and inspires ongoing collaboration and innovation across all departments.

As one of the founding partners of Altair, Beka spent eight years in a client service role directly overseeing client portfolios and providing investment and financial planning advice before accepting the position of Chief Operating Officer. Under her leadership the firm has continued its strategic focus on a deep team approach to serving clients. She led the formation of specialized financial planning and client education teams as well as building out the professional management team of the firm. She focuses relentlessly on ways to improve internal efficiencies so that the adviser team can spend its time focused on clients.

Additionally, Beka serves as the head of compliance for Altair, assisting with creating policies and filing annual reports with the SEC. She is also the direct supervisor for department leaders across the firm.

Before Altair’s formation, Beka was a consultant in Arthur Andersen’s Private Client Services practice.

Beyond her work at Altair, Beka has been a mentor to young women pursuing finance and accounting majors and an industry advocate for bringing more women into the financial advisory field. Beka is on the Board of Directors and the Finance Committee of CommunityHealth, a free clinic that provides high-quality health care to more than 12,000 uninsured people annually. She was the 2015 recipient of CommunityHealth’s Visionary Award, an annual honor that recognizes those who exemplify the importance of making quality health care available to Chicago’s most underserved residents. She also serves on the Senior Advisory Board of the L.E.A.D.S. (Leadership, Empowerment, Action, Development and Service) program at Benedictine University, is on the Board of Directors for the Civic Federation, an independent, non-partisan government research organization that provides analysis and recommendations on government finance issues for the Chicago region and State of Illinois, is a member of The Chicago Network and mentor through its Executive Women’s Mentorship Initiative program and serves on the Finance Committee of the St. Benedict Preparatory School on the north side of Chicago.

Beka and her husband, Steve, along with their three children and black lab, reside in Chicago’s Lincoln Square neighborhood.
